Why Retrofit Career Development?

The Retrofit Academy is an industry-leading not-for-profit organisation, central to delivering training and support to the next generation of retrofit professionals in the UK.

Our vision is a world where every home is warm, healthy and low carbon. To create the efficient homes required to meet the UK’s emissions goals, the country needs an army of retrofitters in professional, technical and skilled craft roles. And that’s where we come in.

The Retrofit Academy is working together with Belfast City Council to deliver multiple Retrofit career development opportunities across Belfast. The new programme of courses is fully funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund and is here to deliver leading-edge retrofit training and qualifications to help both teams and individuals prepare as demand for energy efficiency in residences increases.

Available Fully Funded Retrofit Qualifications

From our Level 2 entry level qualification, through to our more advanced qualifications for existing built environment professionals. There are a series of fully-funded qualifications, courses and coaching available to help ensure trainees and their teams are prepared for the retrofit revolution.

Level 2: Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit

A comprehensive and easy to follow introduction to whole-house retrofit. Learners will gain an understanding of what domestic retrofit is, what it is supposed to achieve, what you need to know when working in the industry, and what to look out for when installing energy efficiency measures in homes.

Those who are new to the world of domestic retrofit, or those who have some experience of energy efficiency projects already, or for organisation wanting their employees to have an awareness of domestic retrofit principles and practices.

30 hours: eLearning supported by a one-day tutor-led session

COURSES STARTING EVERY 2 WEEKS WHILST PLACES REMAIN AVAILABLE

Level 3: Certificate in Domestic Retrofit Advice

Retrofit Advisors are the first point of contact in a customer’s retrofit journey, advising and supporting the process with a customer-first approach. Learners will gain detailed knowledge of the retrofit sector, the roles within, and how to deliver best-in-class retrofit advice.

Those looking for a career in retrofit customer service or wanting to advise customers and clients about retrofitting their homes by providing information and guidance about the retrofit process.

Level 4: Award in Domestic Retrofit Assessment

The role of a Retrofit Assessor is to survey properties and prepare a report in-line with a Retrofit Coordinator’s requirements. Learners will be provided with full training and support on how to conduct a detailed retrofit assessment.

Existing Domestic Energy Assessor’s wanting to work on retrofit projects carrying out essential retrofit assessments.

Level 5: Diploma in Retrofit Coordination & Risk Management

Retrofit Coordinators manage the PAS 2035 process throughout a project. Crucially, the Retrofit Coordinator ensures compliance with the procurement, specification, and delivery of measures in all domestic retrofit projects.

The UK Community Renewal Fund is a UK Government programme for 2021/22. This aims to support people and communities most in need across the UK, to pilot programmes and new approaches to build community resilience and prepare for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
