The Retrofit Qualification Framework

This project is fully funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund

  • The Retrofit Academy CIC is at the heart of delivering leading-edge training and professional development to a new generation of retrofit professionals in the UK.

Our vision is a world where every home is warm, healthy and low carbon. To deliver 27 million retrofits over the next 30 years in the United Kingdom, we need an army of retrofit professionals in both white and blue collar roles. Our mission is to enable this.

The Retrofit Academy is central to driving PAS 2035 compliance by shaping retrofit best practice, sharing our technical expertise with industry peers, and advancing the sector through our memberships.

To create the warm, comfortable, and energy efficient homes needed to meet our emissions goals it is essential we develop exacting retrofit standards, advance best practices; and develop the processes, roles and skills needed to achieve this.

PAS 2035 is a publicly available specification which outlines the necessary standards for the future of domestic retrofit. It is designed to enhance retrofit standards, improve processes and introduce new skills, capabilities and roles.

Qualifications

Level 2
Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit

This qualification is the ideal place to start your retrofit journey. It will give you a good understanding of what domestic retrofit involves. The qualification is appropriate for a wide range of people, including those already working in the sector, those considering joining it and those who are impacted by it.

Level 3
Certificate in Retrofit Advisor

The Retrofit Advisor qualification and course are aligned to the PAS 2035 requirements for giving advice on any retrofit project. Aimed at anyone over the age of 16 years old, with a good educational background and a desire to work in retrofit, this qualification is a fast track route into a topical and rapidly expanding sector.

Level 4
Award in Retrofit Assessment

The Retrofit Assessor qualification and course are aligned to the requirements of PAS 2035 for carrying out retrofit assessments. It’s the perfect course for existing energy assessors (DEA) wanting to ‘upskill’ to enable them to conduct retrofit assessments.

Level 5
Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management

The Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management gives you the knowledge and skills needed to become a Retrofit Coordinator; a crucial new role required by the PAS 2035 standards. You will learn the requirements of PAS 2035, the background to domestic retrofit in the UK, the technical requirements of whole house retrofit and the work required of Retrofit Coordinators.
