Retrofit Academy Centre of Excellence

The Retrofit Academy Centre of Excellence is here to support industry growth and raise standards.

Our members are individuals, companies and not for profits who want to achieve excellence in whole house retrofit. As the industry adapts to BSI PAS 2035, our focus area is PAS into Practice.

Some of the key Centre of Excellence services include training, working groups, a knowledge portal, online events, product and project reviews, CPD programmes, and the Retrobook supply chain connection app.

Retrofit Coordinator Training

The Retrofit Academy CIC is the only Approved Provider of the Open College Network West Midlands Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.

We have trained hundreds of built environment professionals to deliver domestic refurbishment projects that really perform. We offer eLearning, Blended Learning and Taught Course routes to qualification, designed and delivered by leading experts.

Under the new BSI PAS 2035 guidance, all domestic retrofit projects should use an Accredited Retrofit Coordinator. Anybody wanting to become a Coordinator must hold the Level 5 Diploma before joining one of the TrustMark-approved Accreditation Schemes.

PAS 2035

What is it and what does it mean for you?

PAS 2035 is set to have a huge impact on the Retrofit industry.

Our downloadable white paper helps you gauge and understand the impact.

PAS 2035

COMPLIANCE PROCESS MAP

Our guide builds upon our previous Guide, PAS 2035 Explained, which sets out what the new Standards are attempting to do and how the new roles interrelate.

It is intended to be used by people fulfilling one of those three roles, as well as their employers and the accreditation schemes of which they are members.

Local Authority Toolkit

Local Authorities are leading the charge towards whole house retrofit through the LADs scheme.

This guide provides local authorities and social landlords with the tools they need to embrace PAS 2035.

  • “I will now think of the install as part of a whole package rather than a single measure. What impact it will have on a building and how it can be altered to better fit with other measures either present or potential.”

    Installer

  • “The course gave me new insights into testing, monitoring and evaluation. This will have an immediate positive impact on how we collect data and how it will collate with other potential improvements.”

    Insulation Installer

  • “The training is invaluable to anyone working, managing or specifying building projects – especially in energy retrofit. “
    ERDF Project Manager
  • “As a result of the course I will now ensure handovers on site are thorough and all considerations and solutions are imposed in order to make a property as air tight as possible”

    Main Contractor

  • “I completed the course last month and just wanted to say a massive thanks. The course has showed me lots of new things and help develop my own business. An extra thanks to Alan Pither who has been a big help and a real fountain of knowledge.”

Rob Garner, Installations Director at Green Hut Energy

  • “Following several challenging years of delivering the Energy Company Obligation this course has gone a long way in re-igniting my passion for domestic energy efficiency.”

Andrew Powell, Commercial Developer, Domestic Energy Services, npower

  • “Thermal bridging and condensation are a day to day part of what I do and I am already wording my onsite reports in a different way as a result of the course.”

    Energy Assessor

  • “The qualification has allowed me to give more professional advice to customers looking to improve the energy efficiency of their homes”
