The Retrofit Academy Network is a collaboration between government, industry and clients, facilitated by The Retrofit Academy CIC.
The Network has a clear aim: to build a competent and capable workforce to deliver housing decarbonisation in the United Kingdom. It was established in 2022, to address the chronic shortage of retrofitters, both trades and professional. It is estimated that more than 400,000 new people need to enter and become competent to retrofit our homes just to achieve our 2030 carbon-saving targets.
The Network operates on two levels: national and local. In each case, the Academy aims to support the development of long-term and sustainable infrastructure. Ultimately this will lead to the delivery of vast amounts of high-quality retrofit training delivered locally and to a high standard
We work in partnership with local authorities and others to develop the local infrastructure required for long-term success. We also work with local educational providers to upskill tutors, generate demand, provide consistent assessment and learner support. Both partnerships operate under a Licensing Model featuring:
