Your fully funded introduction to Domestic Retrofit

Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit (UDR)

The Retrofit Academy CIC has been awarded funding under the Green Homes Grant (GHG) Skills Training Competition to train 1,000 new and existing energy efficiency installers in Understanding Domestic Retrofit.

This 3 day course is aimed at:

Those not currently in education, employment or training
New entrants in the industry with little or no understanding of domestic retrofit
Experienced installers who don’t yet hold any qualifications in domestic retrofit

What’s UDR about?

Candidates will be enrolled onto the NOCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit. This is a nationally recognised qualification and a stepping-stone to securing employment in this rapidly growing market.

Course learners will gain an understanding of what retrofit is, what retrofit achieves and how they can have a future in retrofit.

Learner Outcomes

This course is based on the full NVQ Level 2 in Insulation and Building Treatments, Building Construction, Defects and Interfaces and completing it will serve as a pre-qualification for the full NVQ.

It will also count as proof operatives are working towards the necessary NVQ qualification and are on the pathway to PAS 2030 compliance.

The application window is now closed!

We’ve had a phenomenal response to our UDR course, and all of the funded places have now been filled.  We’ll soon be launching the UDR course commercially, so please keep checking our website for more information.

Three-day eLearning course

In partnership with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, The Retrofit Academy is running a three-day, fully-funded eLearning course designed to help your workforce onto the compliance pathway. This nationally-recognised NOCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit qualification is in support of the Green Home Grant Voucher Scheme. It’s designed to support job creation and improve learner employability.

How long will it take and what are the dates?

The training will be delivered online via six interactive sessions. You can learn at your own pace, but it will take approximately 21 hours to complete the learning and assessments across three days. The programme starts from February 2021 and will conclude no later than 30th June 2021. All learners must have completed the qualification by this time. Further information on start dates will be provided shortly after your application.

Eligibility

The great news is, we have 1000 fully-funded places available for any new, existing and apprentice site operatives! To be considered for the programme, you must carry out the majority of your work in England and have access to a computer with reliable internet connection. Priority will be given to installers who are willing to create jobs for people once they hold this qualification.
