GHG Skills Training Competition: Retrofit Coordinator Programme
The Retrofit Academy has been awarded funding under the Green Home Grant (GHG) Skills Training Competition to train 120 new Retrofit Coordinators.
The competition aims to to support the capacity building required to deliver PAS 2035 projects through the GHG and to support job creation. The Retrofit Academy is working with the West Midlands Combined Authority, Greater London Authority, Devon Council, Manchester City Council and others to identify and recruit eligible learners.
This programme is aimed at:
- those not currently in education, employment or training who meet the course Eligibility Criteria. You may be under-employed or unemployed. For example, you may only have enough work to fill 50% of your available time at present.
- those working in the public sector or third sector who will be offering a Retrofit Coordinator service commercially
- existing built environment professionals such as architects, surveyors and construction managers who wish to practice as a Retrofit Coordinator and/or Designer as their main occupation.
The programme is only open to those committed to practice as a TrustMark-accredited Retrofit Coordinator within the next 12 months.
About the Programme
The programme will start on 18th January 2021 and will conclude no later than 30th April 2021. Learners must commit to the completion of the course and the assessments by this date. This will involve approximately 150 hours of teaching, self-study and assessment.
Learners will be charged a £500 deposit, which will be returned in full once the course has been completed.
Successful applicants will:
- study towards the Open College Network West Midlands Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management via eLearning;
- be offered over 20 hours of expert-led seminars via Zoom
- be trained in the use of The Retrofit Academy PAS 2035 Templates
- become a Member of The Retrofit Academy Centre of Excellence for 12 months, providing access to our resources and templates
- be offered advice to find work as a Retrofit Coordinator or to help set up a business
- be offered membership of a TrustMark Retrofit Coordinator scheme
The total time commitment is likely to be 120-150 hours. Learners must commit to completing the programme and assessment no later than 30th April.
Eligibility
To be considered for the programme, your application must evidence the following:
- you must hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a built environment subject bearing a minimum of 12 credits. The only exceptions will be learners with significant retrofit experience who are also able to complete our aptitude tests.
- you must have significant experience of working in the built environment, or in a sector where the technical skills are transferable to a built environment context.
- you must have professional skills and behaviours that would be expected of a built environment professional, for example: project management, customer care, contract management, managing tender processes etc.
- you must live in England, Wales or Scotland but be willing to work on Green Home Grant projects in England. The GHG is only available in England
