Our vision is a world where every home is warm, healthy and low carbon. That can only be realised by insulating and decarbonising millions of homes over the next few decades. The UK Green Building Council say that 1.8 homes per minute will need to retrofitted to deliver the UK government’s commitment to net zero by 2050.
To do this we need thousands of new retrofitters, delivering home decarbonisation at a scale never seen before.
The Retrofit Academy CIC has a mission to train over 200,000 competent retrofitters by 2030. We develop new qualifications and training courses to support people and organisations to deliver high-quality and large-scale retrofit. We also support colleges and universities nationwide by training their trainers and licensing our training courses.
The Retrofit Academy develops, delivers and licenses best-in-class courses and qualifications relating to the retrofit challenge.
We help industry, academia and government to understand and deliver whole house retrofit at scale.
We work with government agencies, employers and clients to create jobs and growth through the retrofit economy.
Retrofit is in our DNA. We are trusted by industry and government to develop and deliver qualifications that will deliver a competent workforce.

We don’t just train individuals wanting to develop a career in retrofit. We work closely with key stakeholders to develop the supply chains they will need to deliver net zero housing. We have:
We publish guidance to the sector – for example download our free Social Housing Toolkit.
“We have worked with the Retrofit Academy during the development of the whole house approach and the building of the capability to deliver the new PAS2035:2019 standard. The academy has worked diligently with all the sectors to provide pathways for businesses and individuals to develop and train to meet this exacting and rigorous standard. The delivery of retrofit co-ordinators into the sector to support the whole house approach is crucial to the Governments targets to meet Net Zero.”
“The course gave me new insights into testing, monitoring and evaluation. This will have an immediate positive impact on how we collect data and how it will collate with other potential improvements.”
“I will now think of the install as part of a whole package rather than a single measure. What impact it will have on a building and how it can be altered to better fit with other measures either present or potential.”
“The training is invaluable to anyone working, managing or specifying building projects – especially in energy retrofit.”
“As a result of the course I will now ensure handovers on site are thorough and all considerations and solutions are imposed in order to make a property as air tight as possible”
“Delivered a strategically-important report advising local authorities on options for contracting for PAS 2035 – well executed and good value”
