GHG Skills Training Competition: Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit

The Retrofit Academy CIC has been awarded funding under the Green Home Grant (GHG) Skills Training Competition to train 1,000 new and existing energy efficiency installers in understanding domestic retrofit.
The competition aims to support the Green Home Grant Voucher Scheme and to support job creation. Funding and support are provided by the Midlands Energy Hub on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
This programme is aimed at:
- those not currently in education, employment or training who meet the course Eligibility Criteria
- new entrants coming into the sector with little or no understanding of domestic retrofit
- existing installers with experience but who do not hold any qualifications in domestic retrofit
ABOUT THE TRAINING
Candidates will be enrolled on to the NOCN Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit (UDR). This is a nationally-recognised qualification that installer-accreditation schemes will recognise. PAS 2030 (2019) – the British Standard for energy efficiency installers – requires operatives to hold or be working towards NVQs. This qualification provides an entry-point that can be counted towards the ultimate NVQ.
UDR is designed to improve the employability of learners, providing an induction into the world of energy efficiency and domestic retrofit. Learners will gain an understanding of what retrofit is, what it is supposed to achieve and the role they can play in delivering successful outcomes.
The training will be delivered via interactive eLearning via six interactive sessions. It will take approximately 21 hours to complete the learning and assessments across three days.
The programme will start in mid-February 2021 and will conclude no later than 30th April 2021. The course is fully funded for learners who complete the qualification on time.
ELIGIBILITY
To be considered for the programme, your application must evidence the following:
- you must work or be available to work in England
- you must have access to a computer and reliable internet connection
Priority will be given to installers who are willing to create jobs for people once they hold this qualification.
