The AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit features six modules with extensive, interactive teaching materials, and self-tests to check your understanding along the way

1. Introduction to Domestic Retrofit – Busting the jargon and introducing key concepts like Fabric First and Whole House Retrofit.
2. Domestic Retrofit Information – Understanding the types of information and documents used in retrofit projects.
3. Health and Safety – Learning the current legislation, emergency response, and risk management in retrofit.
4. Domestic Retrofit Materials and Building Services – Develop expertise in selecting appropriate materials for retrofitting projects and understand the integration of building services to enhance the energy efficiency and functionality of retrofitted homes.
5. Retrofit Processes – Understanding pre-installation requirements, installation details, and common installation problems.
6. Working Practices – Gaining an overview of installation methods for walls, roofs, floors, and more.

This course is open to anyone aged 16 and over with a stable internet connection and access to a desktop or laptop computer. 

It is particularly suited for professionals in housing and the built environment looking to expand their knowledge of retrofit.

The course is assessed through online tests after each module and an online multiple-choice examination at the end of the course.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit from AIM Qualifications, an Ofqual-regulated awarding body. This certification will enhance your employability and provide you with the foundational knowledge needed to progress in the retrofit sector.
