Our vision is a world where every home is warm, healthy and low-carbon
- We don’t shy away from a challenge and our vision is certainly that! But it’s a vision we passionately believe in.
- Improving the UK’s housing stock has huge benefits. It will address climate change by reducing carbon emissions, making the world a better place now and in the future. It will give people much better homes to live in, improving their quality of life and standard of living. It will also help to reduce their energy bills and lift millions of people out of fuel poverty. And it will make the UK more resilient in terms of energy security.
Our mission is to attract, train and develop 50,000 competent retrofit professionals by 2030
- Another big challenge, but one that’s essential if the UK is to achieve its target of being net zero by 2050.
- To put that 2050 deadline in context, we need to make improvements to 1.8 homes every minute of every day over the next few decades.
- To enable that, we need retrofit professionals who are highly skilled to design, manage, survey and deliver high-quality services. About 50,000 of them!
- And to do that we need to attract these people into the sector, train them to a high standard and then support their professional development.

We deliver supported online learning to the highest standards, combining the best of our expert tutors with the enabling power of digital technology.
Supporting a Community of Professional Practice
Our Professional Membership brings together a community of leading retrofit practitioners – designers, coordinators, assessors and advisors. Through our Retrofit Academy Hub, we support them through networking, events and knowledge sharing. We run their national awards to showcase excellence in retrofit.
Connecting Talent with Opportunity
We train and develop retrofit professionals to the highest standard, with the competencies that employers value. We support our graduates to find the best career opportunities for them, linking them with employers when needed.
Quality Assured Training Network
Our Retrofit Academy Training Hubs deliver training to the same high standards as the Academy does itself. Providing access to curated content and learner support, we enable training providers around the UK to service their local market without investing in costly course development.
