That’s why we are currently piloting VR, exploring how it can enhance the learning experience for retrofit professionals.

Virtual Reality bridges the gap between physical and digital learning environments, allowing attendees to interact with 3D models, virtual simulations, and live data. Participants experience complex retrofit scenarios in a fully immersive, hands-on manner – something that is challenging to replicate through conventional methods.

What Virtual Reality Brings to Retrofit Training

Imagine exploring a life-sized, interactive 3D model of a property, without needing to visit a physical site. With Virtual Reality headsets, participants can visualise building structures, evaluate insulation placement, and simulate various retrofit solutions in a completely virtual yet realistic setting. It’s the next best thing to being on-site and is reshaping how we approach retrofit training.

This advanced technology allows learners to experiment with different retrofit strategies and make decisions based on real-world scenarios. By visualising energy loss or testing insulation techniques in real-time, attendees gain crucial insights into retrofit processes – without the risks or limitations associated with physical worksites.

Piloting Virtual Reality at Homes 2024

For now, these immersive learning experiences are being piloted at national events, allowing us to showcase the potential of Virtual Reality in retrofit training and gather valuable feedback from participants. This pilot phase is crucial in helping us refine and adapt the technology for broader future use in retrofit education.

Our collaboration with the University of Staffordshire through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership is instrumental in this process. By working with our dedicated VR Specialist, we are utilising academic expertise and cutting-edge technology to explore new ways of making retrofit training more interactive and engaging.

Participants have the opportunity to collaborate in virtual environments, these immersive scenarios offer a glimpse into the future of training and demonstrate how Extended Reality can make learning more engaging and effective.
