NORTH YORKSHIRE Funded Retrofit Training

FULLY FUNDED TRAINING IN NORTH YORKSHIRE

Explore fully funded, flexible courses, offering up to 16 weeks of specialised retrofit training to develop energy efficiency knowledge and skills and launch a career in the retrofit sector. These bootcamps support adults at any career stage, providing a direct pathway to new roles, opportunities, or contracts.

Eligibility is open to those living or working in the North Yorkshire area, verified through our partnership with North Yorkshire Council and Zero Carbon Harrogate, and funded by the Shared Prosperity Fund. This includes Wakefield, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Bradford, Keighley, Pontefract, Castleford, Goole, York, Darlington, Barnard Castle, Ilkley, Otley, Wetherby, and a 15-mile radius around these locations.

The program includes flexible online learning, interactive workshops, and practical assignments to suit your schedule!

Level 3 Award in Domestic Energy Assessment and Level 4 Award in Domestic Retrofit Assessment

A domestic energy assessor (DEA) is a professional who conducts energy assessments and produces energy performance certificates (EPCs) for residential properties. Retrofit Assessors visit properties and carry out full property surveys. This dual qualification program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to assess a home’s energy efficiency, provide recommendations for improving its energy performance, and include full accreditation on graduation as a Retrofit Assessor!

Who’s this for?

Ideally, you will have experience or an interest in the built environment and housing sector or be looking to change careers into retrofit.

Assessment:

One written assignment per module.
Final professional discussion.

Duration and Content:

8-week fast-track programme
You will be required to attend two full weeks of learning in Week 1 and Week 5 of the course, an on-site practical demonstration, and an independent e-learning study of up to 20 hours per week in the weeks in between.

NEW TRUSTMARK ACCREDITATION

From the 1st July 2024 successful graduates will gain their TrustMark Accreditation for the role of Domestic Energy Assessor and Retrofit Assessor through Sterling Accreditation.

LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA IN Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management

Retrofit Coordinators manage the PAS 2035 process throughout a project. They are critical for ensuring compliance with procurement, specification and delivery of all measures in domestic retrofit projects.

Who’s this for?

Experienced built-environment professionals with management experience and knowledge of PAS 2035. Ideal for those looking to take the next step in their retrofit career.

Duration and Content:

16-week fast-track programme
Each week you will be required to attend a 4-hour virtual expert-led session and complete 4 hours of independent study.

Assessment:

One written assignment per module.
A case study and final professional discussion.

NEW TRUSTMARK ACCREDITATION

From the 1st July 2024 successful graduates will gain their TrustMark Accreditation for the role of Retrofit Coordinator through Sterling Accreditation.

RETROFIT DESIGNER

A Retrofit Designer develops custom retrofit plans to improve energy efficiency in residential buildings, as outlined in the PAS 2035 standards. They specify materials, systems, and methods for insulation, heating, and other upgrades, working closely with specialists as needed to ensure cohesive designs for sustainable homes. This course provides existing professionals with essential knowledge in creating energy-efficient designs whilst managing the complexities of retrofitting across diverse building types.

Who’s this for?

Eligible participants include Chartered Architects, Architectural Technologists, Technicians (ARB, MCIAT, FCIAT, CIAT), Chartered Building Surveyors (MRICS, FRICS), and Professional Members of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB, FCIOB).

Duration and Content:

16-week fast-track programme

Self-paced e-learning, each week you would be recommended to complete at least one module for this fast-track course!
