We’re Hiring: Training Operations Manager

The Retrofit Academy CIC is a national market leader in training relating to domestic retrofitting – the decarbonisation of our homes. We’re training over 2,000 built environment professionals with support from the government and industry. Moreover, we are established as the UK’s Centre of Excellence for the sector. Over the next 12 months we will be expanding both our range of qualifications and developing partnerships to extend our geographic footprint nationwide.

It’s now time to take another exciting step on our journey with the addition of a Training Operations Manager to help us achieve our goals.

Job Description:              

Title: Training Operations Manager

Salary:        £35,000 – £45,000 plus pension (negotiable for the right candidate)

Term:          Initial 12-month contract

Location:    Stafford, Staffordshire, UK (blend of home and office working available)

Reports to:  Chief Operating Officer

Purpose of the Role

We are now seeking to recruit an experienced Training Operations Manager to lead on the operational delivery of The Retrofit Academy’s training provision.

The focus of this role is to:

  • Manage and mentor the operations team, assessment and quality assurance functions
  • Improve performance of people, products and processes
  • Lead on implementation of the strategic plan for the business area
  • Increase the quality of customer services
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body requirements
  • Develop and continually review policies and procedures
  • Lead on operational and project reporting to management and funders
  • Ensure appropriate policies, procedures and processes are in place and are optimised for delivery

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate, cost-effective way
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Ensure the organisation’s processes remain legally compliant
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives
  • Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability
  • Manage budgets and forecasts
  • Perform quality assurance and monitor operational KPIs
  • Recruit, train and supervise staff
  • Find ways to increase the quality of customer service
  • Working with the Head of Qualifications and Learning, plan the roll out of new qualifications
  • Manage relationships with The Retrofit Academy’s tutors and assessors
  • Take full responsibility for the learner assessment function and IQA process
  • Working with regional partners, develop and execute a Train-the-Trainer programme to grow the pool of TRA tutors

Requirements (R = Required, D = Desirable)

  • 3-5 years’ experience as Operations Manager or similar in an educational context (R)
  • Knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management (R)
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting (R)
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles (R)
  • Excellent communication skills (R)
  • Leadership ability (R)
  • Well-developed management skills (R)
  • Experience of using data to drive business excellence and performance (R)
  • Outstanding organisational skills (R)
  • Degree in Business, Operations Management or related field (D)
  • Hold a valid qualification in Internal Quality Assurance (D)
  • Hold a valid assessor qualification (D)
  • Knowledge of the built environment sector (D)
