What are skills bootcamps?

Skills Bootcamps offer funded* flexible courses for up to 16 weeks, allowing people to build sector-specific skills and launch their careers in energy efficiency and retrofit roles. They are designed to ensure adults can retrain and upskill whatever their starting point, providing a clear line of site to a new role, opportunity or contract.

You will be eligible to apply if you provide proof of living or working in the Hertfordshire area. The Skills Bootcamps include flexible online guided learning designed to work around your schedule, workshops and assignments.

*Fully funded for unemployed, self-employed and career changers. For learners put forward by their company (co-funded) the employer pays match funding up to 10% for an SME (1-249 employees) and up to 30% for a Large Enterprise (250+ employees).

OUR FUNDED COURSES

Level 3 award in Domestic Energy Assessment and Level 4 Award in Domestic Retrofit Assessment

A domestic energy assessor (DEA) is a professional who conducts energy assessments and produces energy performance certificates (EPCs) for residential properties. Retrofit Assessors visit properties and carry out full property surveys. This dual qualification program will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to assess a home’s energy efficiency, provide recommendations for improving its energy performance, and includes full accreditation on graduation as a Retrofit Assessor!

Who’s this for?

Ideally, you will have experience or interest in the built-environment and housing sector or are looking to make a career change into retrofit.

Duration and Content:

8-week fast-track programme
You will be required to attend two full weeks of learning on Week 1 and Week 5 of the course, an onsite practical demonstration, as well as independent eLearning study of up to 20 hours per week in the weeks in between.

Assessment:

One written assignment per module.

Final professional discussion.

Upon successful graduation of the Level 4 Award in Domestic Retrofit Assessment, learners who applied from the 1st July 2024 will be awarded Trustmark Accreditation for the role of Retrofit Assessor through the new TRA/Sterling Accreditation scheme.

LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA IN Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management

Retrofit coordinators manage the PAS 2035 process throughout a project. They are critical for ensuring compliance with procurement, specification and delivery of all measures in domestic retrofit projects.

Who’s this for?

Experienced built-environment or housing professionals with management experience and knowledge of PAS 2035. Ideal for those looking to define their retrofit career in retrofit.

Duration and Content:

16-week fast-track programme
Each week you will be required to attend a 4-hour virtual expert-led session and complete 4 hours of independent study.

Assessment:

One written assignment per module.

A case study and final professional discussion.

NEW TRUSTMARK ACCREDITATION

Upon successful graduation of the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management, learners who applied from the 1st July 2024 will be awarded Trustmark Accreditation for the role of Retrofit Coordinator through the new TRA/Sterling Accreditation scheme.
