How CITB Can Help You Access Retrofit Training

At The Retrofit Academy, we’re passionate about delivering the high-quality courses and qualifications needed to tackle the retrofit challenges facing the UK. As the government accelerates its push towards greener, energy-efficient homes, to achieve net zero, the demand for skilled professionals in the retrofit sector continues to grow rapidly.

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) can support you in meeting that demand by offering funding to significantly reduce, or even eliminate, the cost of your training.

Whether you’re relatively new to retrofit or have some experience working in the UK’s housing industry and looking to upskill, CITB funding gives you easy access to our expert-led courses. As the driving force in retrofit training, skills and knowledge, our programmes are designed to exceed industry standards, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to deliver effective retrofit solutions.

And what’s more, our recently enhanced Professional Membership supports Retrofit Professionals from the classroom into practice! Retrofit Assessor and Retrofit Coordinator learners will receive 12 months’ free CPD through the Retrofit Professionals’ Hub Membership Platform; advanced HomeLife and PAS 2035 Compliance software; and industry recognition.

With the backing of CITB, you don’t need to worry about the financial burden. Now is the time to invest in your future, gain respected industry qualifications, and make the most of the growing opportunities in the green economy.

About the CITB

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) plays a key role in making sure the UK construction industry has the skills it needs to grow and adapt. Backed by the Department for Education, CITB operates independently but is accountable to both government ministers and Parliament. Its main job? Helping businesses and workers access the training needed to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

For over 50 years, the CITB has provided grants and funding to make training more accessible for individuals and businesses alike. This support is especially vital for the retrofit sector, where the demand for energy-efficient construction methods continues to rise as the UK looks to meet its net-zero goals.

With its focus on innovation and sustainability, CITB offers funding to support training in key areas, such as:

  • Energy efficiency measures
  • Low-carbon building techniques
  • Sustainable construction practices

Whether you’re new to the retrofit industry or a professional looking to upskill and boost your career, CITB funding can help ensure you have access to the qualifications that will contribute towards the UK’s sustainability goals.

What is CITB Funding and Who is it for?

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) offers significant funding to help cover the cost of retrofit training through The Retrofit Academy. Whether you’re an employer looking to upskill your team or a professional wanting to take your career to the next level, CITB funding is designed to make gaining essential qualifications easier—without the financial strain.

With the government’s focus on energy efficiency, highlighted by the recent Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund, there’s never been a better time to invest in your training. The demand for skilled retrofit professionals is growing fast, and at The Retrofit Academy, we’re proud to be the UK’s leading provider of high-quality retrofit training. With CITB funding, you can tap into this opportunity without worrying about the cost.

Who is it for?

CITB funding is available for:

  • CITB-registered employers – Companies that contribute to the CITB levy can use this funding to upskill their workforce and stay competitive in the growing retrofit sector.
  • Individual professionals – If you work for a CITB-registered employer, you can take advantage of fully or partially funded training to boost your skills in high-demand areas like retrofit.

Not sure if you’re eligible? If your employer is up to date with their levy payments (or exempt), you’re likely good to go. You can easily check your eligibility on the CITB website.

For CITB-registered employers, there are three key ways to access funding, which can cover most or even all of the costs associated with training your team or sub-contractors:

Short Qualification Grant

Receive £600 for each qualification achieved. This funding applies to all the qualifications above provided they are completed within one year and applied for up to 52 weeks after completion.

Skills and Training Fund

Covers up to 100% of training costs for registered employers with fewer than 100 staff up to £10,000. Employers with 100-250 staff can apply for up to £25,000.

Employer Networks

Get a rapid decision on training for larger groups via a local CITB Employer Network, covering up to 70% of the total cost.
