A new generation of retrofit professionals

In 2021, The Retrofit Academy CIC teamed up with Generation – a global non-profit which has trained over 40,000 learners facing barriers to employment across 14 countries – to create a new green jobs training programme. The aim: to support and drive a green recovery that builds back better and helps to reduce carbon emissions and improve the energy efficiency of homes across the UK.

There are approximately 700,000 young people in the UK who are currently out of work or education, and more than 300,000 have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic; hitting those the hardest who are from disadvantaged and minority backgrounds.

Getting the UK on a path to net-zero carbon and retrofitting its estimated 27 million homes is going to require the creation of more than 10,000 new jobs in retrofit coordination, advice, and assessment roles, by 2025. This partnership with Generation offers a fantastic opportunity for so many to be a part of this journey: we offer a free, 10-week full-time Bootcamp and will train individuals for roles in retrofit as Retrofit Advisors.
