Three retrofit professionals at work

Local authorities on course for retrofit best practice

We have more good news! Following a successful round of conversations with the Midlands Energy Hub, we welcome our very latest members to the Centre of Excellence in the shape of 65 local authorities from across the Midlands.

Being able to have a direct relationship with these organisations means that The Retrofit Academy will support them on their journey to develop energy efficiency under the Local Authority Delivery (LADs) and Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) schemes.

Through our dedicated Social Housing Team and with support from our specialist group of colleagues, our goal is to develop strategic partnerships with these organisations, supporting them with their employment and skills development around low carbon retrofit.

Sally Hancox, Head of Social Housing at The Retrofit Academy, said:

“I am excited to get started and working with the new members to establish how we can help them on their retrofit journey. At The Retrofit Academy, we are well aware of the variety of responsibilities that Local Authorities have according to their stock holding. But we want to help all of them deliver high-quality, compliant retrofit that will make the homes in their areas warm and affordable.”

David Pierpoint, Founder and CEO, added:

“Bringing retrofit clients and industry together to form a collaboration that can drive momentum into the national retrofit project (scale and quality), is a long-held vision. It feels like a very important step in the right direction.”
